Byrdathon

  • St Mary Magdalen's Church, Oxford 9 Magdalen Street Oxford, England, OX1 3AE United Kingdom (map)

After the success of the corresponding event in 2017, we’re marking the 400th anniversary of death of William Byrd with another complete performance of his choral works in Latin over a 24hr period, all in aid of the St Mary Mary Magdalen’s Restoration and Development Trust. This event will particularly benefit the musical provision of the church.

The music to be performed comprises 3 Masses and over 200 motets, adding up to around 16 hours of music making. We’ll perform the works in the order of the church year, finishing off with the Psalm settings.

The concert will begin at 5pm on Friday 3rd February, until midnight, and pick up again at 8am on Saturday 4th February until 5pm.

All are welcome to attend!
